Retrofit Pathways for District-Scale Building Decarbonisation

Abstract

District heating retrofits are often evaluated building-by-building, missing network-level efficiencies. This paper models a mixed-use district of 40 buildings under three retrofit sequencing strategies, finding that coordinated sequencing cuts embodied-plus-operational carbon by 22 percent relative to an uncoordinated baseline.
